In 1997, Patrick O’Keeffe founded Hokkaido Outdoor Adventures. HOA’s humble beginnings were inspired by their pure love of the outdoors. However, over the past decade and a half, HOA has become the epicenter of adventure for clients throughout Japan and the world. Through their passion for the outdoors and excellent customer service, Patrick O’Keeffe and his talented, specially selected guides have bought a whole new level of excitement and safety to adventure sports in Japan.

Not just in Hokkaido, Pat has been invited to facilitate and run expeditions throughout  the world! Whether it be running trips in the Upper Mustang of Nepal for Red Bull film crews, or first descents on the rivers of Myanmar. Pat has bought a level of professionalism, safety, fun, and all-round excitement to people from all walks of life.

HOA’s specially selected guides come from different countries around the world such as, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, etc. And they are perfectly suited to make sure you have a great time. HOA is located at the foot of the Hidaka mountain range in Hokkaido, Japan.  Our base is an old wooden school house surrounded by great outdoor spaces. A BBQ area, gardens, and a huge lawn are great places to chill outside while waiting for your turn at one of the adventure tours.
